Installation Day

Everything you need to know for your installation day – Let’s do this!

The day you’ve been waiting for…

Now’s a good time to refresh our memories after the long wait and cover any information you may have forgotten from your survey. We’d love the day to go as smoothly as possible, and there are a few things to cover beforehand. Feel free to take a read to get up to scratch and let’s get these shutters installed!

Preparation
The day and time of arrival will be given to you by your installation team, here are a few things you need to do prior to arrival to make sure you’re ready for us.

Parking – We’ll need to be as close as possible to your property for the duration of the installation. If you live on a busy road, please be prepared to save some space for us. We’ll be continually moving too and from the van, for the time we’ll be with you.
Existing window coverings – Unless agreed prior, please remove all curtains and existing blinds prior to arrival.
Cleaning – Fitting shutters isn’t overly messy, but we recommend giving the windows and sills a good wipe-down before the day. We want to leave you the cleanest possible installation, we’ll caulk/silicone around the shutters, and dirty reveals will seep into the product.
Window size – The bigger the window, the more space we’ll need. The surveyor will usually highlight this during your survey if we think this is going to be a problem. But as a general rule of thumb, the size of your window (width and height) will need to be laid on the floor to be assembled. Your shutters come flat-packed, and we need space to put them together. Upstairs, we don’t expect you to turn your home upside down, we’ll generally sheet up and lay the shutters across the bed as a building space. One large space downstairs and one upstairs is usually all we require.
Window Areas – Anything directly in front of windows, IE. Sofas, beds, and cabinets will need to be moved forward so we can swing open a panel and move around the shutter to gap fill.

During Install
– If you have any animals or children which may be prone to escape, please keep them away for the day as we’ll be using your front door a lot.
– Tea/coffee/biscuits are accepted as bribery 🙂
– As you can imagine, there will be tools and loud drilling. If you have someone who is sensitive to noise, then it may be ideal to keep them away for the day.
– Generally, we’ll politely ask you to clear the room whilst we work, but please keep young children away from the areas as we have sharp objects nearby.

Post-installation
– Once we’ve completed fitting the shutters, every room we’ve worked in will be left tidy, hoovered, and as we found it.
– All rubbish will be removed from site. We’ll take care of that for you, don’t worry.
– The best bit – THE REVEAL. We’ll spend as much time with you as you need, showing you how to use your fabulous new shutters, the dos and don’ts, and how best to keep them looking good for their lifespan. If you have any questions, then now is an ideal time to ask, but we’re on hand if anything slips your mind.
– Recommendation: We highly recommend you do not open your shutters for 24hrs once they are installed if we have used caulk/silicone products. Let it set and harden before opening and closing panels.
– Your guarantee is outlined to you at the time of sale, but all our T&Cs are viewable on this website.
– We’d love you to leave a review, if we send a feedback request then please do honour us and give us your time, it will be much appreciated. As a small, local business, positive feedback is invaluable. Thank you!

Payment
Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due upon booking installation. We accept all forms of credit/debit cards and bank transfers. We prefer not to carry cash where possible, if over £1000 it will be subject to a 1% handling fee. All invoices are electronic, if you’d like a copy just let us know your email address.

That’s all you need to know, we can’t wait to see you!
